Surreal Partying

Nothing too exciting happened yesterday, unless you want me to go on about all the orientations and meetings we had to attend-- feeling like freshman year all over again!

We did however have our first roomie outing. Went out to dinner for pizza and wine, can't get a better combination, and then went out to our first Italian bar. Lots of Americans there though and we are all in search of fine Italian men. So, going out somewhere else tonight in hopes of finding the right bar to go to. We will get there eventually.

The bar we went to last night is right next to the Duomo, which is only a 3 minute walk from our apartment. I wish I had my camera to take a picture, but not even that would capture the beauty and intricacy of the building. Walking next to it was surreal. It was like we were in a movie. I never imagined myself partying, let alone walking, next to these grand architectural monuments. Hopefully sometime soon we will go walk around and site see so I can post pictures of all the buildings.

Until then, you will have to deal with the beauty of us girls--

First set of Keys

Day 2 almost complete! Finally got settled into my first apartment. Bigger than I expected to be-- I have a whole walk in closet! Sharing the apartment with three other girls from Monmouth University in New Jersey that are all really close friends. Definitely can't get as lucky as I did freshman year with Ms. Allie Blythe though!

Didn't do much walking around today. While I was sitting in my hotel room this morning with the window open I could smell the little bakery below and of course had to go check it out. Got an assortment of cookies and biscuits as well as a sweet wine to go with. Also had my first cup of Italian coffee, then I had to go get another one. Delish!

Hope all is well in Kansas!

A New Beginning

It's been a long time coming. I have finally made it to Firenze, Italia! Got in around 8:55am and settled in my hotel room. Starving, I decided to try out my first Italian restaurant and of course get pizza. If you ever go to Italy and get a pizza, here are a few pointers. One: they do not slice your pizza for you. Two: do not under any circumstances get pizza with wurstel on it; basically it is a hotdog. There is my first bit on food. Next- Italian men. Everyone was right, Italian men are aggressive. I haven't even been here one day and I have gotten called at like I'm a cat. But don't worry, I have already made my first Italian purchase of clothing. The dangerous part is all the really cute boutique's around here; I'm going to need a new suitcase! After eating, I decided to walk around in hopes of not getting lost. Ran into the Santa Maria Novella as well as the market place (with lots of leather) that is right in front of the Cappelle Medici---

It's 1:12 here aka time for a nap. I'll leave everyone with one last thing for today--

"Saying good-bye is less about something ending and more about new beginnings and exciting possibilities."

Today marks the day of my new adventure!
